About the speaker

Keep Hanoi Clean (KHC) was firmly founded on this concept… KHC was founded by James Joseph Kendall in May 2016, a long-term American resident of Hanoi who was concerned about the levels of trash in and around his neighbourhood. Since then, James and his team of volunteers have collected over 200 tons of trash from over 50 locations in Hanoi and northern Vietnam. Through its grassroots work with local communities, extensive media coverage and hands on approach to clean up events, KHC continues to motivate and inspire in the sphere of environmental protection. KHC is currently in the process of registration as a social enterprise, which will allow it to increase the scope and reach of its work. • KHC is an organisation committed to long term improvement of environmental conditions in the city through the power of education and community involvement • KHC works in the three key areas of land, air and water, and each area impacts the other, which is why there is an integrated approach • KHC is proof that anyone who has an idea, and is motivated about acting on that idea, can effect positive change and have an impact on their world.
