Jafar shares an incredibly honest account of his experiences of loneliness and identity.

Jafar is a marketer and theatre critic who moved to Cardiff from London and has lived with loneliness his whole life. Here he shares his catfish-style tale that came from a lost sense of identity, and how honesty has helped improve that, his confidence and his work.

About the speaker

Jafar is a London-born, Cardiff-based freelancer with more than a decade of experience in the arts.

As an arts critic, he’s written for publications such as The Stage, WhatsOnStage, WalesOnline and Buzz Magazine. He is also an Associate Editor for Wales Arts Review, focusing primarily on theatre criticism.

Jafar dons a lot of other hats in the arts, including as a scriptwriter, performer, arts marketer, director, dramaturg and workshop facilitator.

Honesty is paramount to everything Jafar does as an arts critic, but being honest wasn’t always so easy for him. In this compelling, catfish-style tale, you’ll hear just how far those lies went, and how they shaped the man Jafar is today.
