What are FieldTrips?
FieldTrips are meetups to interact, learn and collaborate in an effort to level-up your creative life.
We’re limiting these events to only 25 people, they’re like an intimate dinner party. Your absence will be felt so please make sure that you can definitely attend if you sign up. Also, we’re in the prototyping phase, so come with an open mind and be prepared for anything.
Thanks for participating! We’re lucky to have you.
Home Tour and Conversation with Architect MJ Neal
May 4, 8:00am - 9:30am CDT. Hosted at The Ramp House
About this FieldTrip
Here at the widely-published, award-winning home, “The Ramp House,” architecture broker Brian Linder will guide FieldTrippers through the project that introduced South Austin to modern architecture. Named for the graceful interior walkway that provides vertical circulation and spatial delineation throughout the house, this home was way ahead of its time when it was built in 2002. Sensitive to the old Austin neighborhood, yet revolutionary in its impact, this urban intervention has withstood the test of time and remains one of the finest examples of this masterful architect’s work.
Architect MJ Neal will talk about his role as the designer and builder of this unique work of art, about subsequent renovations that have altered the original design intent, and about how to live in a design-oriented environment. Interior designer Linda Klugman of Scenography will explain the delicate art of staging a hard-edged modern home, softening conditions to make the home feel accessible and livable while respecting the architectural design. Brian will contextualize the home as architecture for sale, illustrating how homes designed by architects command a substantial premium in the real estate market compared to other more generic properties.

As Architecture Brokers, we help our clients buy and sell homes designed by architects – or what we like to think of as properties with design integrity. This includes everything from historic adobe to well-crafted traditional homes from the 1920’s and 1930’s, from Mid-Century Modern architecture to the cutting-edge design of our current era, and everything in between. We help our real estate clients live a design-oriented lifestyle. Our fundamental goal is to raise awareness of the value of good design in the built environment.
