What can happen when a pandemic stops you procrastinating

Heather joined us to have a chat with Leanne about changing career and launching a new business in a pandemic. Full of personal experience and advice this is definitely one to watch if you’re dreaming of starting your own business.

About the speaker

Joining us for Procrastinate is Heather Gilberthorpe Pell. This event will be a fantastic opportunity to hear from someone who managed to turn the events of last year into a positive, someone who used her creativity to pivot her career and launch a completely new business – during a pandemic – and make a success of it!

With a background in Fine Art, Sheffield native Heather, was one of the brains behind the amazing and hugely popular Peddler Night Market. That was until the pandemic struck...
With event work coming to an end Heather looked into other avenues for her creativity. She developed her pastime making candles and, with some gentle encouragement from persuasive friends plus some inspiring courses and books on going solo, her hand poured, sustainable candle brand Lit, was launched in October 2020, to great success.

Since launching during lockdown, Lit have already been featured in Stylist Magazine as a ā€œfavourite under the radar brandā€ with a ā€œbrilliant business idea that we can’t stop buying fromā€.

Heather hopes that creative collaboration will play a big part in the Lit brand going forward, being inspired by the creativity of others to develop her own practice and encourage a sense of community and a support network as a self employed woman.

Heather lives with her wife Libby and cat Buzz in their pink terrace in Greystones.

Don't forget, this is your last chance to tune into one of our events before we take a break for the summer.
