Hawai’i Pride inspires the community to bring your whole self to everything you do.

What does pride mean? To be able to bring my whole self to everything I do. To continue the efforts of our elders so that next generations have safe spaces to be themselves. In this world we feel we need to ask permission to celebrate yourself and your diversity—instead we want to inspire community to bring themselves to everything they do because we can’t be our most authentic selves until everyone has a seat at the table.

About the speaker

As a proud product of Papakōlea, the first Hawaiian Homestead on Oʻahu, Haʻaheo Zablan keeps one eye on traditional Hawaiian culture, history, and values, and the other on innovation, regeneration, and the future of the Hawaiʻi visitor industry. As one of the few Native Hawaiian General Managers in Hawaiʻi, Haʻaheo has completely changed the position of the Kaimana Beach Hotel and has created a premier destination in Waikīkī for both kamaʻāina and malihini alike.

Ha’aheo celebrates his māhū identity in everything he’s involved with. He’s especially honored with kuleana to support the Hawai’i LGBT Legacy Foundation as Board Chairperson and through his kūlana as Board President for Hawai‘i Health & Harm Reduction. HHHRC works at the intersection of Homelessness, Mental Health, Chronic Disease, Criminal Justice, and substance use.
