About the speaker

Gary Buckner is a functional-form artist, entrepreneur, and the founder & owner of STASH Design. He is based in Dallas, Texas, where he grew up tinkering with old materials he found in his grandparent’s garage. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas, Gary set out to create his own business - a journey that included building treehouses in Round Rock, moving to Colorado for six months, and mastering the art of leveraging Craigslist. Aside from his private clientele, Gary has worked on numerous commercial projects. He is passionate about finding, saving and reusing quality materials to create unique spaces and pieces, each with their own story. He uses his immense knowledge of building and his background in engineering and industrial design to create unique accessories, furniture and sculpture. Gary lives in Lakewood with his wife, Meghan and son, Von.

“We just made it work. We made stuff happen that most people generally wouldn't even attempt. — Gary Buckner

“Design, code and technology. I think technology is really where 'beyond' is most important. — Gary Buckner

“I was always put in a box as "I'm an artist. You're an artist. You have to do this. You have to do that." I didn't want to be that. I didn't want to be an artist. Most artists find a medium and they stick with it. I'm all over the map with my mediums. I wanted to find a way to have multiple mediums but also create a business out of it. — Gary Buckner
