Gabe teaches you the formula to rise above your circumstances.

“To rise you need to get out of your comfort zone.” The Rise Panel features two fashion innovators who rose from humble beginnings and they talk about their journey of becoming better than the person you were, making your own path, and building confidence outside of your community. “There is no destination, just a lifelong journey of being a creative and growing every day.”

About the speaker

Gabe Amey is the visionary founder and executive director of RiseHI, a nonprofit organization launched in 2016 with a mission to empower the youth of Hawai'i. RiseHI is focused on broadening young minds about their potential and available opportunities, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. The organization leverages creative media and technology to document and highlight the journeys of local creatives, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, emphasizing not just their successes but also the challenges and lessons they've encountered.
Under Gabe's leadership, RiseHI provides vital supplementary curriculum materials to Hawai'i's educational system, aiming to create a more culturally inclusive and responsive learning environment. These resources currently benefit students across various schools in Hawai'i, enhancing their learning experiences and providing real-life examples to inspire them. The organization emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence, technical skills, cultural competency, and a growth-oriented approach to career development.
Gabe Amey, raised in Pu'unui, Oahu, and Kihei, Maui, is a graduate of St. Louis School in Honolulu. Besides RiseHI, Gabe’s entrepreneurial journey led to the creation of Hawaii VA Loans, a vital resource for veterans seeking homeownership in Hawaii and Our Kūpuna, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income, home-bound elderly in Hawai'i.
