About the speaker
Felicia W. Shaw is executive director of San Diego ART Matters, an advocacy and arts service provider to the region’s nonprofit arts and culture sector. As executive director, she serves as the organization’s chief strategist, spokesperson, and champion for SDAM’s mission – to strengthen San Diego’s creative ecosystem and advocate for greater public and private investment in the people and institutions that make our region’s arts and culture sector thrive.
With a career spanning over three decades, Felicia has served in several executive and director-level leadership positions, including the Women’s Museum of California, the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, the San Diego Foundation, and the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.
Felicia’s commitment to the arts includes volunteer leadership positions within various cultural organizations. She is an appointee to the San Diego County Commission for Arts and Culture, where she chairs the agency’s Strategic Planning Committee. She serves on the boards and finance committees of the Mingei International Museum and Moxie Theatre and is also board Chair of California for the Arts, a statewide advocacy organization.
A graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in Communications, Felicia completed additional undergraduate study at UC San Diego, majoring in art history, theory, and criticism.
