About the speaker
Andrew McGlaughon, holds both a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining ECM, Andrew was a Senior Brand Manager with Learfield Licensing Partners, working with universities across the Southeast. Previously he served in various roles working with the Charleston community over eight years with the College of Charleston athletic department.
When not working, Andrew and his wife, Laura, are usually at some event for their two sons, Charlie and Benjamin. As a family, they love being outdoors or taking on a new adventure.
Robin Berlinsky, Executive Director, Engaging Creative Minds (ECM), holds an
M.Ed. from The Citadel. Robin taught 1st and 5th grades in New York and South
Carolina and has been a member of the adjunct faculty at the College of Charleston’s
School of Education Health and Human Performance since 1996. Prior to joining
ECM in 2013, she was a founding board member and the first Director of Education
for the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry where she created hands-on arts-
integrated afterschool/summer programs for over 10,000 visitors and their
families.
Robin is a member of the 2017 Riley Institute Midlands Diversity Leaders Initiative
and National Advisory Committee for the National Association of Elementary School
Principals. She serves on the Palmetto State Arts Education board and chairs the Art
Committee for Charleston STEM Festival. In addition, she supports various school
improvement and nonprofit education committees in the tri-county area of
Charleston, South Carolina.
Robin won the 2007 “Woman of Distinction in Business” Award from the Girl Scouts
of Eastern SC. She co-authored the compendium, STEM Ready America: Inspiring
and Preparing Students for Success With Afterschool and Summer Learning,
sponsored by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. Further publications include
Elementary School Principal magazine, “Combating Summer Learning Loss,” and
video by National Association of Elementary School Principals, “Partnering to Create
Summer Learning for Students.”
