Elle Luna is a designer, painter, and writer. She also runs a textile venture, the Bulan Project, a collaboration with master batik artists in Bali, and has previously worked at international design firm IDEO and with teams to design and build Mailbox’s iPhone app, redesign Uber’s iPhone app, and scale the storytelling platform Medium.

On April 8, 2013, Elle published an essay on Medium.com titled “The Crossroads of Should and Must,” which quickly went viral. Within weeks, it was Tweeted to over five million people and seen by over a quarter million readers. Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert said of the essay, “So much greatness and it’s all right here!” Elle extended the post into an illustrated, four color book with Workman Publishing, and it debuts April 8, 2015. Of the book, Evan Williams, co-founder of Twitter, founder of Medium, says, “Elle’s infectious enthusiasm will inspire you to do the boldest thing you can in life: be your true self.”

Originally from Dallas, Ms. Luna obtained her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University and her Masters in Fine Arts at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
