Design more effective *Live/Work systems in your home w/ Valerie Farber (*for pandemics and beyond)

June 22, 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT. Hosted at FieldTrips on Zoom

About this FieldTrip

In this workshop, I will walk you through my 325 sq ft apartment and share the thinking and DIY strategy around the systems I’ve created for work, live, exercise, garden, meditate, cook, and record. I will give you an easy way to understand and map out your space(s) for the many activities now layered throughout your day and leave you with tools for testing/shifting furniture placement, “activity zoning”, and daily habits.

I’ll also share some simple hacks that will empower you to re-imagine areas of your own home that could use a refresh. Should there be interest and time, I would like to have a few participants walk us through an area of their home to share their pain points and brainstorm ideas for potential DIY design strategies.

About your Host
Hi, I’m Valerie Farber, lead design brain and Founder of Spatial Medium™. I fiercely believe in the power of a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to design in order to build a better future. Empathy-based research and listening to those with lived experience are instrumental in my process and I believe telling a compelling story through design connects people to others as well as themselves. Design can be a powerful tool to improve the lives of all who interact with it and I strive to provide functional, sustainable, and delightful solutions for each of my clients, collaborators, and communities.

I earned my Bachelor’s of Architecture (5-year program) from Syracuse University. Over the course of my career, I have contributed to projects ranging from traditional architectural spaces to product/presentation design to business development and strategy. When I’m not in the office you can find me in my “recording studio” writing original music or creating a new podcast episode for release.
