About the speaker
Lauri is a multidisciplinary sound artist, musician and thinker. He has composed music for films, tv, and dance and theater performances. He is known internationally as a forward thinking handpan musician, as well as the founder of the handpan record label Future Rust, and The International Handpan Day. His fourth solo album, Real Music for Unreal Times: Volume 2, was released in 2020, and received positive praise from both listeners and critics.
In addition to his ongoing career as an artist, Wuolio is currently studying philosophy of religion at the University of Helsinki. For him, music, life and philosophy are inseparable in the same way we are inseparable from our smartphones — lose one and we immediately feel we are constantly missing out something.
In this talk and music performance, Wuolio will possibly (but not necessarily) talk about his music, philosophy, collection of Dao De Jing translations, and his cat.
