About the speaker
Dairien Boyd is a Principal Designer at the mission-driven studio, All Turtles and founding member of mmhmm. At All Turtles, he advised early stage startups alongside product founders to solve fundamental human problems in spaces like health, education and wellness. When the pandemic unfolded, Dairien worked alongside a small team to address our new and difficult reality.
The result is mmhmm, a product that blends fun and usefulness, adding a touch of delight to the virtual world. With mmhmm, everyone becomes a performer. It’s a tool that unlocks creativity in a domain that’s relegated to tiny boxes. Mmhmm is designed to also be practical in improving how we communicate on video. You’ll see this first hand in Dairien’s presentation.
Among other talents, Dairien hosts "Culture Fit: Racial Bias in Tech". A podcast series that amplifies the voices of over 30 Black and brown tech founders, investors, professors, and other tech professionals. It’s an in-depth look at how Silicon Valley not only suffers from institutional racism but also reproduces and cements these very same societal issues. As Dairien says, “It’s one of the most relevant conversations of our time”. Dairien currently resides in San Francisco, California where he coaches high school lacrosse during the spring and summer seasons.
