What are FieldTrips?
FieldTrips are meetups to interact, learn and collaborate in an effort to level-up your creative life.
We’re limiting these events to only 25 people, they’re like an intimate dinner party. Your absence will be felt so please make sure that you can definitely attend if you sign up. Also, we’re in the prototyping phase, so come with an open mind and be prepared for anything.
Thanks for participating! We’re lucky to have you.
Cuttlefish Casting Workshop & Studio Tour
April 6, 8:00am - 9:30am CDT. Hosted at Christopher Taylor Timberlake Fine Art Jewelry
About this FieldTrip
In this hands-on workshop, jewelry designer Chris Timberlake will show us how to create beautiful terraced patterns using molten metal(!) and cuttlefish bones. You’ll come away with a new understanding of this ancient jewelry-making technique, and a metal souvenir with your own unique design.
After the FieldTrip, Chris will take us on a tour of his fabrication studio and get a look at finished pieces using the cuttlefish casting technique.
Because we’re a larger group and we’ll be working with blazing hot metal, the FieldTrip will be held outside, rain or shine (there will be tents in case of rain).
Chameleon Cold-Brew is Austin’s original consciously-crafted, organic cold-brew coffee.
Chris Timberlake is a jewelry designer inspired by the scientist’s understanding of the natural world. Using techniques ranging from silver cuttlefish casting to lost-wax casting to the ancient Japanese metal fabrication process of mokumé gane, Chris creates custom fine art jewelry out of his East Austin studio.
