Additional details

For this month’s theme of ‘Curate’ Clare Hieatt, co-founder of the Do Lectures will be in conversation with Miranda West of Do Books. This talk coincides with the publication of Clare’s book Do Curate. How to create a small magical event, in which she shares her insights and learnings from 15 years of hosting the Do Lectures.

Clare’s style of curation is one that is embodied in place, and creates a welcoming, nurturing and inspiring environment where every detail is carefully considered and has helped the Do Lectures build a reputation of being one of the most influential, small events in the world.

Clare started her creative career in London working as a copywriter. Together with her husband David, she founded the clothing label, howies. This gave them a ticket out of London to set up a new life on the coast of west Wales. The couple then founded, Hiut Denim, a project to re-start jeans manufacturing in their hometown of Cardigan.

For 15 years the Do Lectures was a side-project run from their farm overlooking the bay. Following the sale of Hiut Denim last year, the Do Lectures has now become the couple’s main focus, and they are excited to grow its reputation at a time when in-person events will become an important respite from the demands of the digital world.

Do Curate: How to create a small magical event by Clare Hieatt is published by Do Books, June 2026.
