Kristin Medin talks about her experience in the aviation industry

About the speaker

Kristin Medin is a seasoned user-centered designer with a strong foundation in industrial design and a deep passion for creating intuitive and functional experiences. She holds a B.F.A. in Drawing and Painting from the University of Georgia and an M.F.A. in Industrial Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Her journey into design was influenced by an early fascination with Walt Disney Imagineering. After spending time learning about Disney’s world-renowned approach to hospitality, Kristin shifted her focus to designing real-world products and environments that people engage with daily.

Since joining Gulfstream Aerospace in 2007, Kristin has played a critical role in the development of multiple aircraft programs, including the G650, G500, G600, G700, and G800. While formally trained in industrial design, her career has centered on user-centered design—shaping aircraft systems, refining passenger touchpoints, and leading design validation and acceptance testing. Her innovative contributions have earned her utility and design patents, ranging from Flight Guidance Panels to engine covers for adverse weather protection.

Beyond her work at Gulfstream, Kristin serves as the only design liaison to the SAE International S-7 Flight Deck Capabilities for Transport Aircraft committee, where she helps shape Aerospace Recommended Practices and regulatory policies for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Kristin is also dedicated to mentoring the next generation of innovators, serving as a Girl Scouts of the USA volunteer, all while being a proud mother to three daughters.
