Sarah Cook

Creativity Mentor & Writing Coach.

The Dalles, OR, USA

Hi! I’m Sarah Teresa Cook. I’m a neurodivergent writer, poet, and creative mentor. I guide folks in tending both sides of their creativity: the work itself (their tangible projects and practices) as well as their spiritual-emotional relationship with a sense of purpose. I do this with an eye toward enchantment, sustainability, and the transformative power of written words.

About this FieldTrip

In this workshop, we’ll explore examples of creative manifestos—and related texts—in order to generate ideas for writing our own. From serious and reflective to playful and silly, participants will be prompted to think about their relationship to their creativity from multiple angles, and will leave the workshop prepared to finish or continue developing their own manifesto of creative authority. No specific writing experience or expertise is required, just a desire to channel enthusiasm, lean into curiosity, and gain clarity around one’s unique and valuable creative agency.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

✔️ We’ll begin with some strengths-based community agreements, which invite a safe space and encourage our inner critics to take a back seat.

✔️ We’ll spend the majority of our time walking through different examples of creative manifestos and adjacent texts, moving at a pace that supports momentum. Every example will be followed by a writing prompt in conversation with it, and 5 to 10 minutes of writing time. Prompts range from playful and experimental to more reflective and inward-looking.

✔️ Participants are invited to share their reflections and questions throughout via chat. We’ll have one to two group share moments folded into the workshop, with the majority of our time being devoted to individual writing & contemplation.

✔️ We’ll wrap up with a brief overview of the different lenses & examples we spent time with, a few minutes of final writing time, and some space for overall reflections & insights from the group.

🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

✔️ Be sure to bring anything that will support a curious and creative experience: your preferred notebooks and writing utensils; water and/or a favorite beverage; and any talismans, crystals, artsy supplies or beloved books that help you tap into your creative channel or lean into self-trust. Consider tuning in from a place that will allow you to be cozy and comfortable while writing.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
