Promises that are made and kept are exchanges of power.

In this CreativeMornings/Omaha session, we invite you to make one promise/intention to yourself – and then get creative. Artist and illustrator Paula Wallace will guide you through a creative exercise to put your promise down on paper. When applied towards positive impact, even the smallest fulfilled promises can create meaningful ripples of change.

About the speaker

Most days, you’ll find artist, illustrator and author Paula Wallace in her studio at the Hot Shops Art Center. She has illustrated for other authors and written and illustrated her own books, including Choose Your Days and Mr. Reginald and the Bunnies. Choose Your Days won the Nebraska Children’s Picture Book Award and represented Nebraska at the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. in 2018. Her book, Mr. Reginald and the Bunnies, was a finalist for the 2019 Children’s Picture Book Illustration Award from Foreword Reviews.

Wallace’s work as a fine artist includes many exhibits in the United States and Italy. Her work is held in private and public collections internationally. In Omaha, you’ll find her paintings at Anderson O'Brien Fine Art and in her studio at the Hot Shops Art Center. New work is always “under construction,” and we are invited to see the most current projects on Facebook (Paula Wallace Fine Art) or Instagram (#paulawallaceart).

I always say when people visit my studio, especially kids, the tool I use the most in my studio… There are buckets and buckets of paint brushes and a ridiculous number of pencils, but the tool I use the most – well it’s broken now – is a nub of an eraser because there are very few things that happen just right off the blocks. — Paula Wallace
