Chris Everett explores how Wilmington is becoming an incubator for creativity.
About the speaker
Local filmmaker (Wilmington on Fire) and Artistic Director of the Southern Documentary Fund, Chris Everett, will be speaking about his latest project, 3 Chambers, a cross-cultural collective that aims to provide immersive experiences that showcase the natural intersections of hip-hop, martial arts, and anime – and how these collaborations help build new levels of community, diversity and inclusivity.
Drawing on the CreativeMornings monthly theme of Vision, Everett will discuss how his background in filmmaking and his love of hip hop and martial arts/anime culture gave him the idea for developing the 3 Chambers organization – and for bringing it to life in the very unique and culturally rich location of Wilmington. Recent projects include bringing renowned hip hop artist, Talib Kweli (Black Star), to Wilmington for a show in July 2024. Everett believes that a bringing together cross-cultural art forms has the power to resonate powerfully across different groups and inject new life and collaboration into our city.
