Going beyond life’s perceived hurdles
Who better to speak about overcoming perceived limitation and boundaries than a man that soars over hurdles for a living⦠no seriously he jumps over them⦠really, really, fast.
About the speaker
We are tempted by the possibilities of the beyond. Whether it's deep space, the range of our talents, or a first date, our minds conjure stories that carry us aloft. This unwavering, deep-seated determination to go far and wide is the fire that which keeps us alive, always marching forward, determined to lift the veils that are hiding unfounded beauty.
What a trait to embody. Without the urge to go beyond perceived limitations or boundaries, we would be a dull, stagnating species indeed. The price to go beyond anything is never free; we're called to face our fears, and the reward of reaching that next level is the privilege to do it again.
Who better to speak about overcoming perceived limitation and boundaries than a man that soars over hurdles for a living... no seriously he jumps over them... really, really, fast. We're excited to welcome Canadian Olympic hurdler, Sekou Kaba to the CreativeMorings Ottawa stage as this month's speaker!
Together we'll tackle the mental hurdles of performance and discuss what it takes to have the fortitude to not only be aware of your barriers and hindrances but looking beyond them to discover what lies ahead. This unfathomable curiosity is what has and continues to fuel him to train hard every day. After all, flying a plane, creating an app, closing a deal are all examples of "performance situations" which require great mental skills, much like Olympic competition. By the end, everyone should be prepared to channel their inner-hurdler.
Sekou is a 2016 Olympian, motivational speaker and photographer. He represented Canada in the 110m Hurdles at the Rio Games. Having a long history of overcoming obstacles, Sekou shares his tools of looking beyond barriers to accomplish lifelong goals.

You are more than your elevator pitch [ā¦] āHi Iām X, Iām a man or woman of many things. and letās chat.ā That sparks curiosity.
Own the fact that youāre many things in life, donāt just be an athlete, donāt just be an entrepreneur, donāt just be a coach, an ally, a brother, employer, and so on.
When I go talk to people, and just to switch things up, I donāt just say Iām a hurdler, I say: āI overcome obstacles for a living.ā
