Time is your nemesis - or is it? Brian Jones shares how he turned time into a creative storytelling tool to help people think differently about their community.
About the speaker
Brian has a fresh perspective on time. As an accomplished designer and prolific programmer, he catapults time from nemesis – dictating what we can accomplish and always running out – to canvas, a medium for capturing history in the making. In his latest project, 40 Weeks, Brian illustrates how social media can be used as a vehicle for storytelling over time. Using the urban revitalization of downtown Kansas City as his subject, Brian showcases new images from a variety of sources each week to give people a sweeping view of the city’s transformation.
Brian founded Graphicmachine 16 years ago on the principles that design and technology should work together and inform each other. His clients include Fortune 500 companies as well as not-for-profit organizations, such as Aperture Magazine, the New York Public Art Fund and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Brian also counts many notable artists among his clients, including Stephen Shore, Gregory Crewdson, Stephen Shames, Mary Ellen Mark, Donna Ferrato, Barbara Crane and Joel Meyerowitz. He lives and works in downtown Kansas City.
