Betina talks about her journey from Denmark to Cardiff, following her passion for photography and how it has taken her to an unexpected new adventure of opening the first Danish Bakery in Cardiff. And how she handles each new task by saying “how hard can it be?”
About the speaker
Betina Skovbro is a strange blend of baker and photographer. A proud Dane, she arrived from Copenhagen in Cardiff in 1998 and began a career as press and PR photographer. Alongside her commercial work, she presented several solo exhibitions, curated a range of art exhibitions at Waterloo Tea, and set up the immensely popular - and now sadly expired - Photomarathon.
In 2015, she followed another long-held dream and opened Brød, a cosy and now award-winning Danish Bakery and Coffee Shop on the disputed borderlands of Canton and Pontcanna.
Somewhere amongst the bedlam, she’s also a married Mum of two. In her spare time (you’re kidding right?) she’s either sleeping, eating liquorice or forgetting to go to her allotment.
