Belinda Medellin creates the first high school User Experience pathway at CAST Tech High School in San Antonio, TX.

Belinda Medellin studied musical theatre but through a series of events, listening to her own drive and through the inclination of her students, she found a path that lead her to create a one of a kind experience for her high school students (she even shares a few of them with us).

About the speaker

Belinda Medellin is a Master Teacher who works with high school students to discover the joy of learning when it comes to Digital Media and Communications. Belinda believes that using creativity, life experience, and the sheer will to overcome all odds, she can inspire her ever-evolving students to be the dreamers of dreams. Belinda has worked at creating various opportunities and innovative programs for her students. She has pioneered the country’s first User Experience (UX) 4 year course pathway at the high school level for the new innovative Tech school in the heart of Downtown San Antonio, CAST Tech High School.

In addition to teaching for 12 years, Belinda has worked for corporations such as Southwestern Bell (Now AT&T), Allstate and even was a photographer in the U.S. Navy. Her first year of teaching, she had received the honor of 2007 New Teacher of the Year for Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas. She also has been recognized for the work she has done in Texas high school Speech & Debate and Theatre programs (UIL). Recently, she mentored the 2017 Rising Star Teacher of the Year, Vanessa Trevino, for San Antonio Independent School District.

Belinda Medellin holds a M.A in Educational Technology from Ashford University and a B.G.S in Music/Theatre from Indiana University.
