What does a former filmmaker and current neighborhood builder do before 7 am? In MorningRituals we follow a speaker for their morning routine and capture it in photo and video. MorningRituals is also a small appetizer for you to digest while we prepare the video for the monthly talk.

About the speaker

Avra Jain is a rare, brilliant mix of practicality and creativity. She left a decade long career in Wall Street bond trading to become a very successful real estate developer and community builder. Using her keen ability to identify new and up-and-coming neighborhoods, her belief in the strong correlation between the arts, entertainment, and urbanization and her intuitive understanding of the urban infill concept and adaptive reuse (historic preservation) of buildings and warehouses, Avra has been responsible for the renaissance of neighborhoods such as Tribeca, Soho, Nolita, the Bowery and MiMo.

Jain believes “The world of art and entertainment is insightful and has given me the added perspective of understanding what moves people and how that ultimately trickles down to the real estate market place. In the end, we are building neighborhoods and how areas feel and what makes people want to be there is something that doesn’t always fit on a spreadsheet,” Jain suggests. “Through art and architecture, life and lifestyle are integrated. Through life and lifestyle, communities and neighborhoods are created.“
