About the speaker

Aparna Raman is a design practitioner and educator at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology. Aparna has facilitated courses on Visual Communication, Information Design and Human Centred Design. She works with narrative building in the context of brands, consumer psychology, digital and analogue lives, people, places, and communities. Aparna’s latest immersion is Memory Studies. Her publication of a book on her practice with Living Histories and Material Memory has taken her to multiple Memory Conferences at IIT Madras, Oral History Association of India, London, Morocco and Peru.

As the founder of Timbuktoo, a by kids for kids publishing platform, Aparna instils a love for reading and writing in children. Her other initiatives include The Neighbourhood Project, Culture Chronicles, Storylines - an archival initiative for family narratives and - museum curation for children in collaboration with Rereeti. The Inheritance of Memory is her latest curation based on the intergenerational transfer of memory through letter writing.
