About the speaker

Born and raised in Chattanooga, Anthony M. Wiley, Jr. never lost the power to imagine. He is a music producer, equity trainer, meditation teacher, activist, educator, and community organizer. Anthony currently serves as the senior manager of workforce and family empowerment for the Center for Education and Family Empowerment with the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, which provides integrated services to address family prosperity and foster educational attainment, personal well-being, and increased economic power. Previously, he worked for Dynamo Studios, mentoring young men and women to discover their strengths, learn how to be emotionally well, and begin the process of self-actualization. A U.S. Navy veteran, Wiley participated in two deployments overseas, receiving two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. While on active duty, Anthony wrote about his experiences in a white-male-dominated institution and was published in the anthology, Why Black Lives Matter (Too).

By blending Zazen and mindfulness to unify the body, breath, and mind, he invites us to confront reality with compassionate, non-judgmental awareness. Anthony is married to his wife, Gabrielle. Together they have two incredibly brilliant girls — Hasiina and Miranda — who love exploring, creating, and questioning everything. When he isn’t serving, you’ll likely find him in the studio or trying very hard not to think while meditating.
