Home isn’t a place. Home isn’t even where the heart is. Home is when you feel like yourself.

UX researcher Andy Irvine talks about his quest over recent years to find places where he felt truly at home and like himself. Andy explains how he has found this through people, through nature and through creativity. He discusses what led him to set up 5 Things, his morning event where speakers outline their key takeaways from non-fiction, his journey since taking up surfing, and what he discovered when he got back to more playful artistic practices.

About the speaker

Home is a feeling.

Home isn’t a place. Home isn’t even where the heart is. Home is when you feel like yourself.

Andy Irvine has been working in digital since the wild west days of 1998, which means he must know something about this online stuff. Surely.

Currently, Andy leads the User Experience Research team at FreeAgent – keeping FreeAgent laser-focused on making great products for their customers.

Before joining FreeAgent, Andy was Head of UX at Blonde, working with Royal Mail, Commonwealth Games, ScotRail and IRN-BRU to create great experiences for their customers.

On the side, Andy is the creator and host of 5Things, a breakfast event where invited speakers share their key takeaways from their favourite non-fiction books.
