About the speaker
Andrea is captain of Team Witch Doctor on Discovery Channel's BattleBots. She has 20 years of experience in combat robotics, winning a number of national titles. Andrea recently presented at the Kennedy Space Center on designing for damage and redundancy, and has spoken on discussion panels for a variety of audiences. She is also co-founder of MakeMIA Makerspace and a strong proponent of the Maker movement.
Andrea most recently worked in research and development at Zimmer Biomet, where she has focused on upper extremity trauma for the past 11 years and has been awarded several utility patents. Andrea received her BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami.

Some special features of the July talk are:
On Friday, Andrea will give a talk and then will run a robot building workshop afterwards.
On Saturday she will be hosting a robot battle competition.
There will be a BattleBot exhibition curated by Andrea in the Phase Gallery space at Moonlighter FabLab.
