About the speaker
Isandra Matin Ahmad, the principal of andramatin, is one of the founders of Arsitek Muda Indonesia (Young Architects of Indonesia, AMI), which has greatly influenced the progress of architecture in Indonesia. Often assigned as guest lecturer in Indonesia and abroad, he has won numerous awards including the Association of Indonesian Architects (Ikatan Arsitektur Indonesia, IAI), in 1999 and 2002, 2006 and 2011.
Recently, Andra Matin has been awarded one of the two Special Mentions by the jury of the 16th International Exhibition FREESPACE. This marks the first time that an Indonesian architect has been awarded in the Venice Architecture Biennale.
Inspired by great love of travel, contemporary jazz and art house films, Andra Matin continues to search out experiences to influence and develop his ideas further. Let's hear out about his design intention and what's in store for the future of Indonesian contemporary architecture.
