Storytelling is one of the most effective ways to connect with an audience

Storytelling is one of the most effective ways to connect with an audience. A great story can engage, transport, and persuade. Some of the most impactful stories are our own. Yet, many people feel their personal stories aren’t story-worthy or don’t know how to tell them. In this talk, we’ll explore the benefits of storytelling, uncover the key elements of a great story, and introduce a framework to help you find your unique story threads.

About the speaker

Adam Sismey is a trainer, coach, and surprisingly tall person.

His adventure began in 2016 when he found himself descending a dimly lit staircase to a sweaty basement room. He was about to experience his first improv theatre class—an event that would change him and transform his career.

That night, after his lesson, Adam took the blue No.1 bus home, burned his pinstripe suit, and left his cushy corporate job behind.

Since then, Adam has embraced and taught all things playful, including improv theatre, clowning and Toastmasters. In 2020, he founded Playfully, working with companies like Spotify, Klarna, Electrolux, Camfil, Tacton, and Vattenfall to deliver workshops in presentation skills, storytelling, and an improvisational mindset.

In his spare time, you can find Adam performing with his improv troupe to sold-out audiences in (mostly small, sweaty) subterranean venues—proving that some things never change!
