Marie Louise Kold is Danish and creates metal art for a living. She is based in Malmö, Sweden and in Malta. She has developed techniques of her own, imbuing the metals copper, bronze and brass with an emotional charge that turns them into art. Her first years as a full time artist consisted of incessant work, but nothing to show for it. Over the past decade, with tenacity, strategy and a massive passion for what she does, Marie Louise has gone on to make an international name for herself and her art.

Marie Louise will talk about how she turns “ugly” materials into beautiful, vibrant art using her unusual techniques. However, the main focus of the talk will be on how the unavoidable (and generally ugly) financial side of making a living off your art can be handled successfully – and made pretty – without compromising either art or integrity.
