At its simplest form, 'advocacy' to me is making sure that the system has the information it needs to work as well as it can for as many as it can.
The systems that we build are only as good as the people who manage them and the information they have to work with.
I've learned the value of collaboration and being less controlling, and allowing the space to just be whatever that space is gonna be.
Nia is always saying, 'It's okay, we're learning. It's fine.' So, I'm learning to adapt that mentality...just let go. And release myself from the bondage of worry and perfection, and always ask for help when I need it.
Things just happen. You have to learn to roll with the punches and just relax.
We also learned a ton, this past year. I know I have learned the virtue of just calming the fuck down. It's important.
It's very much a testament to how far you can go with just a dollar and a dream.
