Italian photographer and visual artist based in Paris, Susanna Pozzoli alternates between personal projects and commissions, mainly focusing on portraits, fine craftsmanship and luxury. Her personal research, made of longlasting projects, combines photography with text, sound and even video work. After studying at the University of Bergamo in Italy and at La Sorbonne in Paris, she lives and works in Paris, New York, Milan and Barcelona following opportunities and creating. She takes part in international residencies in France, South Korea, China and in the USA. Her work is shown in solo and group exhibitions and published in six monographic volumes and numerous catalogues. In 2019 she is a finalist for the VAF Stiftung Prize and exhibits at the MART Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rovereto (Italy) that collects some of her photographs. The project completed in 2021 is published by Manfredi Editori under the title Un'estate con Meret Oppenheim (A Summer with Meret Oppenheim). Since 2010 collaborates with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte valorizing fine craft of all Italy. Regularly publishes in the magazine Mestieri d'Arte & Design and in the foundation's book collection with Marsilio Editori. Since 2016 collaborates with the Michelangelo Foundation for creativity and craftsmanship based in Geneva. In 2021 Marsilio Editori publishes Venetian Way, composed of photographs and texts by the author; the book results from her solo exhibition at the Giorgio Cini Foundation on San Giorgio Maggiore island in Venice for Homo Faber 2018 international exhibition and event dedicated to the excellence in crafts worldwide. In 2024 she is Project Director of Homo Faber in Città, a special project running during Homo Faber exhibition at the Giorgio Cini Foundation. She highlights Venetian craftspeople working in the city and on Murano and Burano island phtographying, writing and coordinating special events and talks. Pozzoli presently lives and works between Venice, where she is developing her personal research, and Paris.
