Sarita Ocón is a professional actor, community activist and producing artist based in Oakland. She is currently producing Las Hociconas Lab Performance Residency, a new theatre arts initiative designed to nurture a new generation of cis-gender womxn, queer, trans, and gender expansive artists of color voices in the Bay Area at Studio Grand Oakland. Theatrical credits include performances with Arizona Theatre Company, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, BRAVA Theater Center, California Shakespeare Theater, Gala Hispanic Theatre, Golden Thread Productions, Los Angeles Theatre Center, MACLA PlayMakers Repertory, Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, San Francisco International Arts Festival, San Francisco Playhouse, ShadowLight Productions, Shotgun Players, Teatro Visión. She is a proud company member of the Ubuntu Theater Project in Oakland and HERO Theatre in Los Angeles. Awards: Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship, California Arts Council Local Impact Grant, Investing in Artists Grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation, RHE Charitable Foundation Artistic Fellowship and the Creative Capacity Fund Quick Grant.
