Jonathan Sangster is a Chicago based professor, artist, designer, and educator. They are currently an Assistant Professor of Design at Chicago State University but previously worked as the Art Director for the Illinois State Comptroller. They have taught at Harrington College of Design, Columbia College Chicago, the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University, and Marwen. They have taught and developed typographical courses that focus on experimental typography, graduate typography, hand-drawn lettering, and visual rhetoric. They received an MFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where they specialized in typography and print design, and a BFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where they specialized in communication design, printmaking, and art history. They are involved in the Chicago design community through Creative Mornings and the AIGA, where they currently serve as Co-Lead of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
