My name is Björn Olsson. I´m working as a photojournalist in Gothenburg, the second biggest city in Sweden, a harbour city with more than half a million inhabitants, known for Volvo, SKF, Astra and Ericsson.

My passion for photography started as a kid when I got my first Instamatic. I started to work as a photographer in 1990 after I studied, Media & Communications.

I took my first press photo when I sneaked into a political meeting in Oslo where the recently freed Nelson Mandela spoke. This is still one of the greatest moments in my life. Sitting next to, listen and taking photographs of a living legend made me decide to become a photojournalist.

In 2005 I started my own bussines as a photographer, videographer and picture editor. My customers are newspapers, television, photo agencies, news agencies and online producers.

I also arrange courses in webTV for journalists and photographers.

I have covered news from around the world as a photojournalist: • terrorist attacks in New York and Washington on September 11, 2001 • hostage drama in Moscow in 2002 • bombings in Istanbul in 2003 • referendum in Greece in 2015 • acts of terrorism in Sousse in Tunisia in 2015 just a few examples.

My picture editorship helped to develop the creative process and I therefore have a passion for both image, text, color and design.

Today journalists should be able to handle photo, video, text and audio to publish content in both printed form and online. The change in how we report and in what form we publish content has changed in line with technological development. The change is a part of everyday life and a part of a creative process. To take advantage of the change you must be involved and receptive to new technologies. I would like to share my experiences as a photographer, video producer and picture editor.

Aim for the stars and you'll reach the moon.

Nelson Mandela. His ability to keep his humanity intact despite the inhumane treatment he endured.

Sometimes you need to be stubborn to reach the goal.
