Nathan Beck Creating Magic In Small Moments
Don't sacrifice who you are, or your family, or those who are most important to you for what it is that you dream about.
It makes you realize that we actually have, for lack of a better term, energy that we share back and forth between each other.
I really believe that one of the most important and special things you can do for another human being is to remember their name.
I honestly think in doing this business and wanting to focus on the human aspect of what makes life interesting and what makes life really special, I kind of liked being surprised by fame, a little bit.
How do you create something that transcends being the next best thing?
Any environment: design, architecture, construction, restaurants, food trucking, can have those opportunities to create those moments, you just have to be conscious for them.
How cool would that be? When you walk up and you leave feeling better about yourself than when you walked up, and really all you got out of it was a hotdog, maybe a bag of chips, and a drink.
You shared something from your heart with that person, and that person was affected by what you shared; that's creating magic in really small moments.
Your tribe are the people who see you as your superhero self, even if you haven't gotten there yet.

It doesn't matter how much money you have, it doesn't matter how successful you become; if you are not living your mission, you are not happy. You are not fulfilled. You are feeling a void and it's never going to go away if you don't claim your mission.
We need super extraordinary humans to be able to solve these extraordinary challenges we're currently facing. You can't say that you care about the planet, that you care about your community if you're not being a superhero.
Your success is inevitable. Your victory is inevitable. Don't get caught up in appearances, because the people that programmed you into appearances are the ones that f*cked up the plan in the first place; with what they could touch, with all of their things, with what they could measure. T
The only thing that can happen after darkness is light.
Words like 'homeowner' didn't apply to me anymore; words like 'married' didn't apply; words like 'having a job' didn't apply. So who was I? Who was the essence of who I was when all of these other parts were being stripped? And I realized: I'm water.
So I just kind of put my hands up and I asked the universe to help me. I said, "I want to be my authentic self, I want my light to shine. I need help."
To many I looked like the semblance of an upwardly mobile, success, pro-black family. Everything was going well, the only thing that was going wrong was the fact that I was completely miserable. I was completely unhappy. I had all of these things, but none of them fed my soul.
I am the answered prayers of my ancestors. I am a descendant of Kings and Queens and builders. I'm also the descendant of sharecroppers and factory workers and domestic servants. My parents decided they were going to live a new life, so them like many countless African Americans throughout America decided that they were going to be part of the great black migration out of the South.
It made me realize, sometimes creativity doesn't look like a palm tree against a white wall with a coffee, holding a Kinfolk magazine.
