Mariah Hay cares about good design. Having started out in Industrial Design, she has had the pleasure of working for a variety of companies helping craft useful and usable physical, digital, and service products across multiple disciplines and platforms. She has worked in everything from luggage to social media, but would be the first to admit she is most passionate about healthcare and education.

Mariah serves as Director of User Experience Design at Universal Mind in Dallas, TX. She was previously the Director of User Experience for a remote patient monitoring company, AMC Health, developing remote patient monitoring software that connects with medical devices and clinical services. She also teaches graduate level classes in Design Management at Savannah College of Art and Design.

When Mariah isn't teaching or designing, you will probably find her learning, traveling, cooking, and connecting with others who want to make the world a more user-friendly place.

Design. It's a word that means so many different things to different people. To me, design is all about human interaction. By better understanding what people are trying to accomplish, we can make purposeful decisions (design) to create an experience that helps them do it better, easier, and faster. Design to me means creating a simple experience.

Learning. It's why I teach. I have the opportunity to share what I know with others, and in return I learn about their world, about their point of view.

Be kind.

I admire those that give. People that are generous of heart and kind in nature make the world a better place for everyone. We should all aspire to lead more mindful, understanding, and patient lives.

I have the ability to step into another person's shoes and see things from their point of view.

Racecar driver. What can I say? I have the need for speed!

Any health-related information. I am very interested in the science of nutrition.

A tool or trick that will save them time. Lately it has been a new communication platform that eliminates the need to "make a call."
