Lauren is an artist and graphic designer currently residing in Honolulu, Hawaii. She combines meticulous, labor-intensive, traditional processes and aesthetics with contemporary technologies to create her surreal imagery. Lauren works in a range of mediums including graphic design, illustration, digital imaging, traditional printmaking, painting and sculpture. Her work visually references the conventions of historical scientific illustration, however, she plays with form and meaning to create surprising images that are uncanny, and humorous yet elicit a strange kind of logic. Themes that are explored in her most current work include; the relationship between storytelling, myths and history, art and science, authenticity and artifice, and their [re]presentation.

Lauren was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. She began her undergraduate studies in Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury before transferring to the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she attained her BFA. Her work has been included in numerous private collections and exhibitions in Honolulu, Kauai, North Carolina, Australia and New Zealand; the most notable being Honolulu Museum of Art’s, Artists of Hawaii 2015 exhibition where she produced a body of work that was purchased for the museum’s permanent collection.
