Over the past 20 years, I've leveraged the studies of behavioral and cognitive science, consciousness, and culture to help people and brands understand the essence of who they are and how to captivate their audience.
I've consulted for organizations and movements such as American Indian Movement, Keep a Child Alive, Genocide Intervention Fund, ONE Campaign, International Justice Mission, Lawyers Without Borders, Save Darfur, Human Rights Watch, Freedom House, USAID, and the governments of the United States, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Kenya. In 2012 I co-authored the book Wisdom Meets Passion with NYT bestselling author, Dan Miller. Since 2016, I've hosted Noetic, a philosophy podcast discussing indigenous wisdom, humanity, wonder, and self-actualization.
I am a lifelong student of creativity, economics, science, strategy, philanthropy, consciousness, and indigenous cultures. I believe we are all extraordinary beings created to thrive through deep relationships, nature, spirituality, and creativity. My purpose is to contribute to a more harmonious world by inspiring others to embrace a perspective rooted in love and interconnectedness.
My travels include twelve years of exploring from coast to coast in the United States, a decade living and working full time in East Africa and almost two years soaking in the pure life of Costa Rica. I currently live in San Diego, California with my wife and three of our four children.
Brand development, integration, identity, strategy, storytelling, campaign development, philanthropy, activism, behavioral economics, cognition, indigenous wisdom...and lots of other things. (When you care a lot, you study a lot. I enjoy it.)
Connecting with other creatives in San Diego that are driven by a desire to create experiences that inspire wonder and contribute to a more harmonious world. I value feedback and the possibility of collaboration. That's often where the magic happens.
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery (Author of The Little Prince)
My business mentor for the last 20 years has been Seth Godin. He's had the biggest influence on my perspective in terms of the way in which I conduct business. I'm also a big fan of Jason Silva. He's a philosopher, ontologist, futurist and scientist. He is expanding people's minds and altering their perspectives and fostering more creativity and wonder. That's everything I want to do. In his latest book, This is Marketing, he suggests that we trade in our motivation to collect the most followers, get the most likes, etc. for the motivation to "do business that matters for people that care". That's the only way I do business.
I have the ability to extract the value and essence of something and clearly articulate it in a way that captivates and audience.
The profound feeling of love I experience when I think of my children.
We are all star stuff, intrinsically interconnected. We chose this life. Our purpose is to choose love over anything that stands against it. If you embrace this as a fundamental belief, anything you can imagine is possible.
I can't say I've paid much attention to any of them.
