Brian is a theatre director, innovator, and consultant in Higher Education, Non-Profits and the Arts with specialties in Directing, New Play Development, Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Board of Trustees and Governance.

As Dean of Creative Arts for Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH, Brian was the Executive Producer of an Arts Presenting series of dance, theatre and music events, including the 10-day Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland. He founded an outdoor free MusicFest Cleveland, and Latin Jazz inspired JazzFest Picante. His Creative Arts division presented 70 - 75 professional touring events annually including Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Buddy Guy, Dave Brubeck, Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Martha Graham, Ballet Hispanico, and Merce Cunningham. Brian was responsible for the design of Tri-C’s $35M Center for Creative Arts, which houses the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives.

As the Producing Artistic Director and CEO of the Toledo Repertoire Theatre, he was responsible for expanding the organization from 3 to 16 FT employees and from $300K to $1.2M, producing 25 - 30 productions annually in three venues. He has directed or produced over 150 productions.

Brian was most recently the Vice President of Learning Services at Zovio, an educational technology services company based in San Diego, CA. He led course materials publishing, instructional design, and student support services. At Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, he initiated and launched the Online Degree Program in Psychology and Business (undergrad), and Business Analytics and Legal Studies (graduate). His responsibilities for these programs included support services, enrollment management, and marketing.

Brian served as National Dean of DeVry University’s College of Media Arts and Technology, the College of Health Sciences, and the College of Liberal Arts which included the national library system and Graduate Schools of Education and Communication. He launched DeVry’s first MOOCs reaching over 120K learners in two years.

As a former member of the Association of Fundraising Professions, Brian raised $1.7 – 2.2M annually to support arts programs. He served on the Board of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans.
