The Toronto chapter was founded in November 2011 by Behrouz Hariri, and has since been hosted by Kyle Baptista (2013-2014), and Altaira Northe (2015-present). This past April, we marked our 50th talk (Hooray!). To date, our stage has been graced by Entrepreneurs, Writers, Illustrators, Activists, Artists, Chefs, City Builders, Designers, Librettists, Community Organizers and even an enchanted Poet Laureate.

Our guests have tasted moss appetizers, passed around fossilized dinosaur poo, rolled a dice to take a chance on where to sit, shared a truth or a dare and continue to get on the mic for YOUR TURN (an audience member’s chance to pitch the crowd for 30 seconds at the end of each talk). We are proud of the gender parity reached in our 2015 and 2016 seasons speaker’s list, but we still have more work to do in creating a space for inclusivity.

We continue to strive to connect our audience with the yet-to-be heard voices that make Toronto complicated, beautiful and diverse.
