Chad Zoratly gave a great talk on the 13th CreativeMornings in Lviv event.
The Night Mayor is all about bringing people together, fun ideas, making things happen. He knows what good food and drinks are, he knows everything you need for a great party and even knows what to tell to police when a party got too loud.
I had a chance to spend five extra minutes before Chad dissolved in Lviv’s party life. Not enough to make a really meaningful conversation, but enough to get a sense of a personality.
And I couldn’t think about a better way to start a conversation than food. So here’s our small English-Ukrainian-Greek talk.
M - If you were a meal, what would you be?
CH - I would like to be a pizza. Because everybody loves pizza and there’s is this happiness of getting pizza. It would be with a lot of caprese, a lot of mozzarella cheese. Very cheesy, with capresa. Обов’язково.
M - What was the last thing you ate?
CH - Greek yogurt this morning. With Greek приправа. A small pita in the morning. It’s good for the stomach, by the way.
M - What kind of coffee do you like?
CH - Colombian from Svit Kava. And I like only espresso. Or ristretto to take it double.
M - So do you also, like Italian, make fun of all those people ordering big cups of coffee?
CH - It’s too long to drink. In Greece, when you wake up, you go to a coffee place, you put your bag, ‘zzz’- one euro, ’slurp’ (makes slurping sound) - take your bag and move. It’s kind of a lifestyle. Espresso for me is easier to deal with. ‘Five-minute relationship’ I call it. It’s hot and it’s tasty.
M - Off topic. What is Greek coffee?
CH - The most famous of Greek coffee is frappe because it’s too hot and people like to drink something cold and icy.
M - Milk or dark chocolate?
CH - Hm… Fifty-fifty. Chocolate is good for your health also. (Laughing)
M - Mountains or sea?
CH - Sea for sure. But if there will be mountains around - it’s the best option.
M - What is your go-to song?
CH - It always depends on the mood. I have many songs in my mind, because of different projects, different work. Sometimes you have to relax and listen to classical music -виключитись повністю. And sometimes R&B or nice melodic House is great.
M - What was the best day of your life?
CH - Best day of my life.. was when I started to discover myself. I don’t think it was the exact day, but I think it was a period of time when I started to discover what I love to do.
M - If for some reason you wouldn’t be able to do things connected to events, bars - what would you do?
CH - For sure I’m going to open my own restaurant. It would be totally different, the unique one, not like standard restaurants. And we will not even call it a restaurant.
M - You favorite city. Describe it in three words.
CH - It’s Lviv so far. Sea, mountain, positive city. I know that there is no sea, but we are creating our own sea. It’s like a motion. So for me, it means safe, comfort and happy city.
M - What are some things that get in the way in your life, that you would like to change?
CH - I think it’s the lack of new faces in Lviv. We don’t have too many faces, because it’s not in Europe somehow, but still.. Lack of open-minded people to collaborate together, investors who are willing to trust young people. We don’t have it Lviv so far. It’s more in Kyiv.
M - Three words that define our life now.
CH - Positive aggressive, hungry and happy.
M - What superpower would you like to have and why?
CH - Let’s see. If it is Marvel style, I’d have the super jumping power so I can економити час, make it faster to go. Or own an aerodrome or a flying object. So make it faster. Especially in Lviv.
M - What is creativity?
CH - Creativity is having a team and pitching an idea. Creativity is always in our minds, but we are too shy to discuss it with someone. So I think creativity is a process of building a new idea.
