September is Magic
Do you remember the first time you witnessed a magic trick or climbed up a mountain to see the environment with a different point of view? Your eyes widened and you gasped in excitement.
Magic is about adding layers of wonder and surprise in our lives. Whether it’s the magic of a workplace, a show, performance, or one of those moments with great customer support, it awakens our senses and makes us pay attention to the world, encouraging us to appreciate details that are elusive in everyday life.
As the British author, Roald Dahl once said,
“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
This theme was chosen by our Porto chapter and illustrated by Marta Madureira. Ours is a community that invites magical experiences and ideas with open arms, and together in 150+ cities, we will explore the topic of #CMmagic with glittering eyes.
Here are some upcoming talks on #CMmagic:
Experience Designer Arno Selhorst tells us about how cross-media storytelling can create a magical illusion for all of us real life characters. (Cologne)
Lucia Neare is a 21st-century pioneer of larger-than-life theatre in public spaces. Her mission is as much social and political as artistic: to confront urban dilemmas with the power of free theatre, and to nurture community by inspiring radical joy in the public realm. (Seattle)
Zurich’s first speaker, Ivan Engler, is a filmmaker and creative director. Ivan will talk about experiencing magic vs experiencing reality. He will ask if reality is as special as magic and he will unfold the cathartic moment of experiencing wonder and storytelling as an art to create magic. (Zurich)
