New organizers in Kyiv, Florianópolis, Lac Mégantic, and Buffalo

CreativeMornings is reaching new creative communities around the world! We’re so excited to introduce you to the organizers of new chapters in Kyiv, Lac Mégantic, Buffalo, and Florianópolis!

Meet Irina Prokofieva, Kyiv

irina Which CreativeMornings chapter would you like to visit and why?

I would like to visit New York chapter. This may sound not very original, but I have an old dream to visit this city. Now it’s even more exciting for me to visit the first CreativeMornings chapter, the place where everything started. It would be amazing to feel the true atmosphere of CreativeMornings/NewYork and meet all of those wonderful people who created it.

What excites you?

I am truly excited by people who can create something new, by extraordinary opinions and beliefs, by true leaders and entrepreneurs (especially young ones). I am excited by projects, people and ideas, which dare to change something for better. And I am excited by books.

Describe the work you do and the impact you’re trying to make.

I am working in EU Programme, which is supporting and developing culture and creative industries in six countries of Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). I support operations of the Programme and believe that our job is helping to build capacities of cultural and creative industries, give the needed knowledge to cultural managers, and promote the right messages on culture.

I am also managing my own project ‘Start2Go’, which is working on employability and personal awareness issues. My team is trying to help young people make the right choice in professional life, choose the best career path and understand personal needs.

Now I am also happy to manage CreativeMornings/Kyiv to develop and inspire creative community of my bellowed city.

Who would be the ultimate CreativeMornings speaker?

I think that would be David Lynch. This is a man who inspires me with what he does and who can undoubtedly be called a ‘creative person’.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I think my greatest achievement was when I was working in Ukrainian chapter of international NGO. In one year, I managed to build a very strong functional department on a national level, and the biggest win for me was my team of 15 people who were inspired by their job and did it as great as they could.

What is your vision for CreativeMornings Kyiv?

I would like CreativeMornings/Kyiv to become the first-choice community for creators. I wish it was a place where people can be creative, can raise interesting questions, topics and ideas, where they could feel free and open-minded. I hope that we will be able to create such atmosphere.

Meet Bernard d'Arche, Lac Mégantic

Which CreativeMornings chapter would you like to visit and why?

I’d like to visit CreativeMornings/Jeddah because the creativity there must be very unique considering the socio-political climate of the city and country of the chapter.

What excites you?

Very cliché answer but: new projects that aim at changing positively the world we live in. Philosophy and politics. Combining the mind, the heart and the hands to affect our collective course of action.

Describe the work you do and the impact you’re trying to make.

My job is to run the Centre Magnétique, a coworking space, incubator and accelerator. The impact I am trying to have is to contribute to the reconstruction of Lac Mégantic through entrepreneurship and by helping fostering a vision of economic, social and cultural development.

Who would be the ultimate CreativeMornings speaker?

Pascal Plamondon, a weightlifter competing with the Canadian team at the Rio 2016 Olympics and originally from the region of Lac Mégantic. His perseverance can inspire us all in facing our challenges.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I am very proud of the Centre Magnétique, an incubator, accelerator, and coworking space in Lac Mégantic that I cofounded to help promote and help rebuild and revive Lac Mégantic through entrepreneurship. Especially because these kinds of initiatives (just like CreativeMornings) usually flourish in large urban areas and we adapted it to a town of 6,000 inhabitants.

What is your vision for CreativeMornings Lac Megantic?

My aim is to be able to create an environment that supports and encourages new ideas to emerge for the reconstruction of both the city and its community. Through creativity, I wish to bring about a new wind of positivity and dynamism based on collective action.

Meet Kelly Atkinson, Buffalo

Which CreativeMornings chapter would you like to visit and why?

I’m mega-excited to visit Austin for the CreativeMornings Summit 2016 to meet and learn from everyone. Plus, ya can’t beat balmy Texas in November, when we may already be under snow up north!

What excites you?

Change! We were so lucky to have kicked off CreativeMornings/Buffalo with this very (fitting) theme. Thanks, Barcelona ;-).

Describe the work you do and the impact you’re trying to make.

My background is in quite polar careers, with the commonality of aggregating information into cohesive stories. They’ve funneled me into projects where I continue to do that, but now with the hopes of engaging and creating community through arts outreach.

Who would be the ultimate CreativeMornings speaker?

Currently, I totally agree with Marcelle in Jerusalem - Elon Musk. Though with Solar City in our backyard, maybe it’s not too farfetched.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I’m a pretty good chameleon and am proud of learning to make the better of situations. But change is always happening, so I suppose I’d rather look forward than settle on one.

What is your vision for CreativeMornings/Buffalo?

The final line of the CreativeMornings Manifesto rings very true to us in Buffalo - “Everyone is welcome.” We’re working to build an open, invigorating atmosphere for creative collaboration - one that embraces differences as the stimulus for innovation. If we can help frame this locally, I think we’ll have much to share with the global community. Like our friends in Charlotte say about their city, “Buffalo is creative!”

Meet Bruno Cheuiche, Florianópolis

Which CreativeMornings chapter would you like to visit and why?

I would like to visit the San Francisco Chapter, because I always hear that there is loooooots of new stuff going on on that area. And I know there is such a effervescent culture around there with so many different people. It seems to be a very creative and interesting place to visit.

What excites you?

Big waves. I have always been in love with the ocean. And I’m a surfer. And I get fascinated with all the energy that flows in the oceans, all this energy traveling miles and miles through deep waters and concentrating all its strength and power when it hits shallow waters, building a huge wall of water and bowing down towards the surface again, exploding itself into white water and once again dissipating all its energy slowly towards to the shore and moving back again to the ocean. Isn’t that amazing?

Describe the work you do and the impact you’re trying to make.

I work with events. We always look for events that create a great experience and sparks new life possibilities for people.

Who would be the ultimate CreativeMornings speaker?

Chris Anderson, from TED Conferences. I’ve been following TED and I always get amazed with the impact they are building and all the roles they are playing: amazing conferences, worldwide huge TEDx community, thousands of volunteers in the Open Translation Project making available all TEDTalks in over 80+ languages, TEDEd initiative enhancing education, TEDPrize for people to change the world, etc. I do believe that to achieve all that they are doing does require lots of creativity.

What is your vision for CreativeMornings Florianópolis?

Florianópolis is a very desired place and it’s growing quickly. CreativeMornings/Florianópolis is certainly a great hub for people meet others with great ideas and projects, exchange experiences and build a wiser community.
