Meet The Host of Our Oviedo, Asturias Chapter
Each CreativeMornings chapter around the world is organized by a local team of volunteers led by a chapter host. These generous, open-hearted humans act as ambassadors for the creative community in their cities.
Let’s get to know Daria Krauzo, the host of our Oviedo, Asturias chapter in Spain.
Hi Daria, why did you want to become the host of a CreativeMornings chapter?
I wanted to bring it to the city I live in now to pay back at least a little bit of what I’ve received as a participant in other chapters. The first time I visited CreativeMornings was when I lived in Berlin, later on during my Erasmus in Barcelona, when I lived in Madrid, and when I used to work in London. I only wish I could visit the Warsaw chapter in my home country soon too!!
It’s awesome that you’ve been to so many different chapters! What is your favorite CreativeMornings talk?
I am a huge fan of Maria Popova and everything she says in her talk at our New York chapter feels just so “that is true!”
What do you do for a living?
I run a creative marketing and video agency, Distrito Federal Media. My favourite part of my work is coming up with ideas for campaigns, videos and spots. I also love working with my team, seeing them grow and learn every day. Another favourite part is being able to travel all around Asturias for shoots, I probably know it better than many people who grew up here.
How do you express yourself creatively?
I write to make sense of being human. I love using a journal and physical pen (to remind myself that the kind of pens that run out of ink still exist and that I still have fingertips of my own.) And I hike in the mountains to process everything that happens in my head and around me. I also love gardening.
If a friend was visiting Oviedo, Asturias for one day, where would you take them?
I would show them the city center with its historic part, the beautiful park and the local gastronomy.
What is your purpose in life?
To be a good person and live with ease.
What is something that you could not live without?
Books and walking shoes.
What is a book that you think everyone should read?
Everyone should read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert!
What is your most prized possession?
The backpack that has accompanied me throughout my whole nomad life.
What makes you happy?
Walking, reading, being with the people I love, enjoying nature.
If you had a magic wand, what would you change about the world?
I would make it obligatory for every human being to take a 1-hour walk in nature every day. I think the world would be a much nicer place as a result.
If someone was considering becoming a CreativeMornings host, what advice would you give them?
Just do it! Starting this chapter is probably one of the most fulfilling, gratifying and surprising experiences of my whole entire life. I love creating this beautiful space of kindness and safety for everyone who lives here.
Thank you to Daria and our entire Oviedo, Asturias volunteer team!
