Meet Our Treasure Illustrator: Spectator Jonze
A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldn’t think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.
Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, it’s only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.
CreativeMornings/Brisbane chose July’s exploration of Treasure, Spectator Jonze created the accompanying illustration, and Mailchimp is presenting the theme.
We’re excited to share some of our favorite artworks created by Spectator Jonze!
About Spectator Jonze
Spectator Jonze, also known as Dusky Jonze (for photography) and Jaguar Jonze (for music), is the artistic moniker of Deena Lynch, a versatile and boundary-pushing artist. With her multifaceted identities, Lynch explores the depths of human experiences and the complexities of mental health through her vibrant portrayals.
Born in Yokohama, Japan, to a Taiwanese mother and an Australian father, Lynch’s upbringing was marked by a sense of displacement and the harsh realities of abuse. However, she harnessed her creative mind and unwavering resilience to find solace and healing in art. Using her alter egos, Lynch delves into the realms of self-discovery, unearthing hidden truths and challenging societal taboos.
Her portfolio boasts over 150 evocative portraits, commissioned by renowned brands such as Christian Louboutin and BMW. Spectator Jonze captivates viewers, offering a profound testament to the transformative power of embracing one’s true self. Watch her 2019 talk for CreativeMornings/Brisbane.
