A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldn’t think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.

Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, it’s only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.

CreativeMornings/Sheffield chose January’s exploration of Sanctuary, Lisa Maltby created the accompanying illustration, and Mailchimp is presenting the theme.

About Lisa Maltby

Lisa Maltby is an illustrator and designer based in Sheffield, England. Her illustrative style is characterized by strong color, intricate detail and a love of lettering. Lisa combines traditional drawing with a contemporary twist, always with the aim of producing work that has purpose. Her work covers a diverse range of disciplines across digital and analogue, including book design, food illustration, animation, branding, lettering and mural work. She has created work for a variety of brands worldwide, including Penguin Random House, Politico and Virgin Atlantic. Lisa also writes honest resources for illustrators based on her experiences of making a living out of creative work and mentors for an arts charity, seeking ways to make the industry more accessible.
