Meet Our Resilient Illustrator: Niki Dionne
A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldnât think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.
Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, itâs only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.
The global theme for May is Resilient. It was chosen by our Dallas Chapter and illustrated by Niki Dionne of Dallas, Texas!
We’re excited share some of our favorite artworks created by Niki.
About Niki Dionne
Niki Dionne of Actual Footage of Me is an Illustrator and Fiber Artist based in Dallas TX. Through her work, Niki explores how the âperceived selfâ of black women influences their âpresenting selfâ.
In her piece âI am Resilientâ Niki builds a scene that uses bands of white lines to illustrate lifeâs resistance. The playful use of rain clouds and blooming flowers opposite of the female figure, signify growth, resilience, and new opportunities we all find along our paths.
