Meet Our Liminal Illustrator: Sevda Semer

A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldn’t think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.

Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, it’s only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.

CreativeMornings/Sofia chose November’s Liminal theme, and Sevda Semer created the accompanying illustration.

We’re excited to share some of our favorite artworks created by Sevda!

About Sevda Semer

Sevda Semer is a contemporary Bulgarian artist and writer working mainly with paintings, audio recordings, and textile. In her installations she’s exploring text, narrative, history, and the ways those serve to aid — or hinder — a connection. She’s shown her works in various exhibitions and projects in Bulgaria, Spain, Canada, Germany, England, Austria.

“Because I find myself at a liminal space in my life, exploring the months’ theme led me to giving space for my own feelings around it. I was interested in going in the direction of LIMINAL experienced as a place of experimentation, of inviting spontaneous reactions, and of daring to create a more honest future. A future in which many things come together.”
